LIL’  SPROUTS

Lil’ Sprouts is a hydroponic planting system for the classroom environment.  The engaging, colorful design encourages young students to learn how to grow plants.

As the plants grow taller, the grow lights can be adjusted vertically. Students can experiment with PH levels, nutrients, and other variables to discover the best method for growing vegetables and herbs. After a plant outgrows its container, it can be transplanted to a home garden or alternate indoor planter.

This system inspires children to be interested in gardening and growing their own food.

Elements were 3D-printed, vacuum formed, and laser cut from plastic.

LUMI

Design Prompt: Using a different material, redesign a product commonly used in Hong Kong.

Through ideation and contextual research, I developed a stool to replace the plastic stools often found in casual restaurants with outdoor seating. Lumi is made from a single piece of recycled sheet metal, instead of the typical choice of injection molded plastic.
